The Russians continue to use chemical weapons and violate all the conventions, writes the commander of the operational-strategic group of troops "Tavria" Oleksandr Tarnavskyy in Telegram.

"Last night, Russians in the Novodanylivka area (Orihiv community of Pologiv district of Zaporizhzhya Region) launched 2 artillery barrages from MLRS with ammunition containing a chemicals (probably chlorpicrin). There are no injured as a result of this attack," the message states.

Note that chloropicrin is harmful to humans. It can be absorbed systemically by inhalation, swallowing. In high concentrations, it strongly irritates the lungs, eyes and skin. During World War I, German troops used concentrated chloropicrin as a tear gas. Although not as lethal as other chemical weapons, it was nauseating. The Chemical Weapons Convention banned the military use of chloropicrin, equating it to phosgene and hydrocyanic acid.

In May 2023, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported that the special services of the Russian Federation had begun to carry out a provocation with chemical weapons.
