The Permanent Mission of Ukraine to UNESCO reported that on 15 September, the 45th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee inscribed the World Heritage sites "Kyiv: St. Sophia Cathedral and the Adjacent Monastery Buildings, Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" and "Lviv Historic Center Ensemble" on the List of World Heritage in Danger.
It is noted that this decision was made because of the war of aggression waged by Russia against the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
In early September, UNESCO added 20 locations in Ukraine to the list of sites under enhanced protection. These include the center of Lviv, St. Sophia Cathedral, and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
On 28 July, the Verkhovna Rada asked the international community to expel Russia from UNESCO.
