The Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (SSO) are checking the information of the Russians that the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Admiral Viktor Sokolov, is allegedly alive.
This is stated in an explanation released by the press service of the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces.
"As you know, 34 officers were killed in a missile attack on the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. Available sources claim that the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is among the dead. Many have not yet been identified due to the splitting of body fragments," the SSO wrote.
Since the Russians published a video with Sokolov allegedly alive, the SSO units are clarifying the information. This is part of the procedure for collecting data on the results of the operation.
On 22 September, the Armed Forces hit the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol. According to Sky News, Ukraine used British Storm Shadow missiles for the attack. The attack killed 34 officers, including the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
Initially, the military did not disclose any details of the operation, but Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk thanked the pilots after the strike.
Later it became known that the Black Sea Fleet headquarters was hit during a meeting of the leadership. This special operation was called "Crab Trap". Dozens of dead and wounded occupants were reported.
On 26 September, the Russian Ministry of Defence showed an image of the Black Sea Fleet Commander Viktor Sokolov at a meeting. It has not yet been established where and when this video was shot.
