SBU collected evidence against another collaborator from the occupation "department of the Interior Ministry of the Russian Federation in Kherson Region", which operates in the temporarily occupied part of the Region. The offender is involved in mass abductions and torture of local residents, SBU reported via Telegram.

The offender is currently hiding from justice on the left bank of the Region, but SBU officers have identified him and documented his crimes.

The suspect is a former resident of Donetsk Region, Serhiy Berezin, who joined the ranks of the DNR terrorist organisation in 2014. Then the militants' leaders appointed him to the ranks of the so-called "Yasynuvata city department of the Interior Ministry" in the occupied city.

After the outbreak of a full-scale war and the seizure of Kherson Region, the defendant was "promoted" and headed the "Chaplynske District Department of the Kakhovka District Police Department of the Russian Federation" created by the aggressor.

In this "position", the offender fulfills Moscow's instructions to suppress the resistance movement and spread the Kremlin regime in the Region. To do this, he personally orders the abduction of local residents for their further imprisonment in Russian torture chambers. In the prisons, people are subjected to brutal torture and thus attempts are made to break their resistance and persuade them to cooperate with the Russian invaders.

Based on the evidence collected, SBU investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration).

As he is in the temporarily occupied part of the southern Ukraine, complex measures are being taken to bring him to justice. The investigation was conducted by the SBU Office in Ternopil Region under the supervision of the Regional Prosecutor's Office.
