In a speech at the annual fall meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal said that next year Ukraine will need about $42bn in financial support to close the budget deficit.

"International support is one of the main factors that helped Ukraine withstand the full-scale Russian aggression. Next year's budget deficit will be about 21% of GDP. We are counting on the support of our partners to enable the Government to fulfill its main social obligations: to pay pensions, salaries to doctors and teachers, to help those whose homes were destroyed by Russia," the PM says.

He noted that today the Ukrainian government allocates all collected taxes for security and defence, and it is the private sector that keeps the Ukrainian army going.
