The Defence Ministry has accepted into service the Leopard 2A6, Leopard 2A5 and Leopard 1A5 models of tanks for the Armed Forces.
"Ukraine received these tanks from its Western partners, and they have proven to be effective in combat. By accepting these tanks into service, the Ministry declares its long-term intention to have modern and high-tech weapons," it said.
The Leopard tanks of the 2A6, 2A5 and 1A5 modifications are designed to break through fortified enemy positions, destroy firing points, equipment and manpower, and quickly organise defensive lines.
In September, the Danish defence minister confirmed the problems with the Leopard 1A5 tanks that Ukraine received. Twelve out of 20 tanks have malfunctions.
The Pentagon recently announced that all the Abrams tanks promised by America are already in Ukraine.
