Today, an aide and close friend of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Gen Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, Maj Hennadiy Chastyakov, was killed when an unidentified explosive device went off when he was celebrating his birthday with his family.
"An unknown explosive device detonated in one of the gifts. Hennadiy is survived by his wife and four children. My deepest condolences to the family," Zaluzhnyy said on social media.
He said that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Chastyakov had devoted his life to the Armed Forces and the fight against Russian aggression.
Zaluzhnyy stressed that the reasons and circumstances will be established during the pre-trial investigation.
