President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz discussed further defence cooperation.
"We discussed further defence cooperation. I am grateful for the powerful winter defence package from Germany, including four IRIS-T systems, and for the multi-year financial assistance programme. These are the best signals of Germany's unwavering support. I appreciate that all our agreements are being implemented," Zelenskyy said.
He noted that the parties discussed the situation on the battlefield. In particular, Zelenskyy spoke about his morning visit to Kupyansk, as well as Kherson, Mykolayiv and Odesa the day before. He also spoke about the situation in the Black Sea, the functioning of the grain corridor and the efforts needed to further protect civilian shipping.
Zelenskyy thanked Germany for its participation in the implementation of the Peace Formula, in particular for the participation of the advisor in the meeting in Malta and the readiness to take part in the next meeting.
He also stressed the importance of ensuring unity within the European Union in approving negotiations on Ukraine's accession and allocating €50 billion in aid for the coming years.
Germany will provide an additional €11.5 million to the NATO-Ukraine fund and €24.5 million to strengthen Ukraine's energy system.
