Traffic for trucks through the Vyšné Nemecké crossing point, adjacent to the Ukrainian Uzhhorod crossing point, has been unblocked. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

On 4 December, at 22:00, the actions of the protesters blocking truck traffic through the Vysne Nemecke checkpoint ended.

The vehicles are being cleared in accordance with the established procedure.

The Border Guard Service notes that due to the complicated traffic on the Polish border, the number of trucks using this route to cross the border with Ukraine has increased on the border with Slovakia.

As of this morning, there are 625 trucks queuing in Slovakia to cross into Ukraine.

Previously:

  • On 1 December, Slovakia began blocking the border with Ukraine for trucks. At the time, the duration of the protest was unknown. Slovak protesters said that the transport of humanitarian aid, other important goods, live animals, fuel and refrigerated cargo would not be blocked. However, other goods leaving Slovakia would be allowed in limited quantities - four trucks per hour.
  • The Slovak carriers called the protest aimed at saving transport and preserving thousands of jobs in transport and logistics.
  • In early July, Polish carriers began blocking checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. The Polish carriers' discontent is related to competition following the liberalisation of international transport between Ukraine and the European Union. They stated that the strike could last for several months and affect all checkpoints. If their demands are met, they promised to stop the strike.
