On Thursday, Ukraine and the United States signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Joint Production and Technical Data Exchange at the Defence Industry Conference in Washington, DC. According to the memorandum, Ukraine will receive the capabilities necessary for the success of the Ukrainian army on the battlefield, the head of the presidential office, Andriy Yermak, has said.
He called it a "very important success.
The memorandum states that production facilities should be built in Ukraine to provide the Armed Forces with the necessary weapons in the areas of air defence, production of critical ammunition, as well as repair and maintenance.
To start local implementation of individual projects, the US Department of Defence and industrial partners will provide Ukraine with technical data aimed at improving outdated air defence systems by integrating Western munitions.
"This is the foundation for the future of our defence industry and strengthening Ukraine's defence for years to come," Yermak added.
