Minister of Defence Rustem Umerov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhnyy visited the positions of soldiers in the eastern sector, the press service of the Ministry of Defence has said.

They congratulated and awarded the soldiers on Day of the Ground Forces.

Col-Gen Oleksandr Syrskyy, commander of the Khortytsya Operational Strategic Group of Forces, briefed the top brass on the situation in the eastern sector. They discussed the needs of Ukrainian soldiers, which are key to the effective destruction of the occupiers. Umerov noted that in addition to frontline support and key needs of the troops, the issues of training recruits and strengthening fortifications along the entire contact line were discussed during the trip.

"We are working on increasing the supply of weapons to the frontline, launching production, expanding the possibilities of procuring UAVs (both reconnaissance and strike), and are in daily contact with partners," Umerov said.

The Ministry of Defence and the General Staff are also developing a joint action plan and assessing potential threats.
