The government has to submit the draft law on mobilisation to the Verkhovna Rada today, 26 January. It is to be considered in the first reading on 6 February, said Davyd Arakhamiya, head of the Servant of the People faction in parliament, during the discussion "2024: Scenarios for the Country" as part of the LB.ua and EFI Group's New Country project.
According to him, the MPs spent several days studying the first version of the draft law and its amendments. After that, they "forced the government to take back" the draft law and revise it.
"The first reading will be held on 6 February. I would like to vote in the first reading and as a whole, knowing that the army is waiting for this bill," he said.
Arakhamiya predicts that at least two "opposition factions" will not allow the vote to be taken as a whole.
"Therefore, we will take a break for a week, vote on the reduction of the deadlines, and in a week 13 or 14 February, we will vote in the second reading. We will follow the special procedure and somehow sit there and do it in order to vote on it," he said.
