President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded Chief of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov the title of Hero of Ukraine.
This is the highest state award conferred on Ukrainian citizens for outstanding heroic deeds or outstanding labour achievements. The decree on the award was published on the President's website on 8 February.
"For personal courage and heroism displayed in the defence of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, I hereby decree: To award the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star to BUDANOV Kyrylo Oleksandrovych, Lieutenant General," the statement reads.
