Over the four months of the active phase of the Avdiyivka siege, Russian losses totalled 47,186 troops and hundreds of tanks, the commander of the Tavriya Operational and Strategic Group of Forces, Oleksandr Tarnavskyy, has said.

"In the Avdiyivka sector, Ukrainian defenders inflicted huge losses on the enemy with their courage, resilience and heroism, and destroyed a significant reserve of Russian occupiers, which they planned to use in other parts of the frontline for offensive actions," Tarnavskyy said.

In total, Russia's losses during the active phase of the Avdiyivka siege (from 10 October 2023 to 17 February 2024) amounted to:

personnel - 47,186;

tanks - 364;

artillery systems - 248;

armoured combat vehicles - 748;

aircraft - five.

"I thank every soldier for their resilience, courage and heroism! For each destroyed occupier, for each burned tank and armoured vehicle," the commander added.

On 17 February, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyy ordered Ukrainian troops to leave Avdiyivka and move to more favourable positions for defence.
