The Prosecutor-General's Office has launched an investigation into the shooting of Ukrainian prisoners of war near Robotyne in Zaporizhzhya Region.

Criminal proceedings were initiated over the violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code).

"On 20 February, a video of the execution of three captured Ukrainian defenders by Russian army soldiers was posted on the Internet. The event took place on 18 February 2024 near the village of Robotyne, Zaporizhzhya Region. The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a grave international crime," the statement said.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the SBU Office in Zaporizhzhya Region.
