The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has conducted a DDoS attack and hacked into the Russian Ministry of Defence. Cyber specialists gained access to software, ciphers and classified documents.
The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that they now possess the information security and encryption software used by the Russian ministry, as well as an array of secret service documents. These include orders, reports, instructions and other documents that circulated among more than 2,000 structural units of the Russia's security services.
"The information obtained makes it possible to establish the complete structure of the Russian defence ministry system and its links," the DIU said.
The analysis of the data also helped identify generals, other senior managers of the ministry's structural units, as well as deputies, assistants, specialists - all those who used the electronic document management software called Bureaucrat.
The Ukrainian intel also has obtained the official documents of the Deputy Minister of Defence, Timur Ivanov.
"This deputy defence minister played an important role in making the cyberattack successful," the DIU hinted.
