Ukraine can produce 2 million drones a year with additional financial support from the West, Deputy Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhaylo Fedorov said in an interview with The Guardian, Ukrinform reports.
"We have managed to expand the market so much that we can produce more than 1 million or even 2 million drones," he said.
There is potential to further increase production of all types of drones, but components still need to come from abroad.
According to Fedorov, more than 200 Ukrainian companies work in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles and produce a wide range of drones used on the battlefield.
In 2024, Ukraine will produce thousands of long-range drones capable of delivering strikes deep into Russia. There are also up to 10 companies in Ukraine that manufacture drones capable of reaching Moscow and St Petersburg.
