The chief of the Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, confirmed on the air of the national telethon that Russia's construction of a railway line from Rostov to occupied Crimea is almost complete, Liga.net reports.
"Russia has indeed been building a railway to connect with our southern temporarily occupied territories for more than a year. This process is almost complete," the GUR chief said.
According to Budanov, the railway may become a problem for Ukraine, but he hopes that the Defence Forces will be able to cope with it.
"Everyone has experience in this. It is much easier than the Crimea Bridge issue," Budanov said.
Last October, Russia began actively building a new railway connection through the temporarily occupied Mariupol. The occupiers use the railway to move manpower and weapons, so the railway remains the main strategic object of Russian troops.
