The NATO-Ukraine Council is taking place in Brussels today. Kyiv's main message at this meeting will be the urgent need to receive more Patriot air defence systems, as they are the only ones capable of fighting ballistic missiles. This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at a briefing with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Stoltenberg says that Ukraine's fight in the war against Russia is a fight for common security.

He also reiterated that investment in Ukraine's defence is an investment in the Alliance's own security. "We will also discuss long-term financial commitments," the Secretary General said of his plans for the Council meeting.

Dmytro Kuleba thanked Stoltenberg for his personal contribution to helping Ukraine. "I have come here against the backdrop of Russia's ongoing unprecedented missile and drone attacks against Ukraine. Last night, Kharkiv was attacked by dozens of drones. Russia is systematically destroying the Ukrainian economy, killing Ukrainians and destroying cities because its strategy is to wipe Ukraine off the map," he said.

Kuleba added that his main message today is Patriot air defence system.

"Saving Ukrainian lives, preserving the economy and cities depends on the capabilities of Patriot and other air defence systems. I am talking about Patriot because they are the only ones capable of shooting down ballistic missiles. In March alone, 94 ballistic missiles attacked Ukraine. But the supply of Patriot depends on the allies," he said.
