Russia continues to build fortifications on the Black Sea coast of the occupied territories of Ukraine. From February to March alone, the occupiers built fortifications over 100 km long.
This was reported by the Centre for Investigative Journalism.
In the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea, the coastal defence line starts from the village of Mykolaivka in Simferopol district and runs along the coast to Krasnoperekopsk near the administrative border with Kherson Region.
"Further, new fortifications stretch along the coast to the north, and their largest concentration is along the perimeter of Cape Tarkhankut, where air defence systems are deployed. On the western coast of Crimea, the occupiers have blocked nature reserves and natural parks, archaeological sites and tourist attractions with fortifications," the CIJ said.
Satellite images also indicate that near the village of Syeverne in the Black Sea region, the Russian military has built coastal defence fortifications on the ruins of an ancient settlement.
New fortifications were also discovered on the territory of the occupied part of the Kherson Region. In particular, in February-March 2024, the occupiers' fortifications appeared around such villages as Oleksandrivka, Oleksiyivka, Prymorske, and Ozerne.
