Russian troops are using 1.5-tonne guided bombs on the frontline that can destroy everything in their path. They allow the occupiers to move forward through the ruins.

Ukraine's Defence Minister Rustem Umerov said this during a meeting of the Council of the European Union on the situation in Ukraine.

"Today, together with Dmytro Kuleba, I had the opportunity to take part in a meeting of the Council of the European Union on the situation in Ukraine. In particular, I thanked our European partners and the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, for their systematic and unwavering support of Ukraine in the war against Russia," Umerov wrote.

Umerov adds that Russia is not sparing any means in its quest to destroy what it cannot capture, resorting to shocking criminal acts against civilians and critical infrastructure.

"This year, Russia has launched thousands of missiles and kamikaze drones, resorting to the unprecedented use of guided bombs weighing up to 1.5 tonnes, which are capable of destroying everything in their path. These bombs allow the occupiers to advance through the ruins," the minister said.

Umerov also thanked the countries that have already provided or are ready to provide Ukraine with the necessary air defence systems, in particular Germany for its decision to send additional Patriot systems.

"It is air defence systems that can be a decisive factor in protecting Ukraine's skies and save thousands of lives, providing our defenders with the ability to repel aggression and force the enemy to retreat," the minister said.

He added that the Ministry of Defence is also open to cooperation in the defence industry: joint ventures, investments, localisation of production, which will help not only Ukraine but also strengthen the defence capabilities of the EU countries.

"A strong partnership between Ukraine and the European Union is key to our common victory and the return of peace to our continent," Umerov added.
