Verkhovna Rada approves liquidation of KRAIL, ban on gambling advertising in first reading

The Verkhovna Rada has approved in the first reading a draft law on the liquidation of the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL), strengthening control over gambling and restricting its advertising. 

272 MPs voted in favour. This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

The document includes

restrictions on gambling advertising (in particular, the inadmissibility of speculation on the topic of war and volunteering) and a ban on sponsorshipidentification of additional tools to restrict visits to gambling facilities and participation in gambling for potentially vulnerable categories of the population during the period of martial lawimprovement of tools for controlling the gambling business (control purchases, monitoring of the Internet)establishing additional criteria for the cancellation of licencesimproving the requirements for impeccable business reputation of officials organising gambling, setting requirements for gambling service providers.‘This is the right decision and an important anti-corruption bill. It proposes to reorganise the Commission for Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries (KRAIL) and remove the human factor from the licensing process - everything will be automatic and based on clear criteria,’ commented Deputy Prime Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhaylo Fedorov on the approval of the document. His ministry has been advocating the abolition of the Commission since 2022.
