German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius said on German TV channel ARD that Russia produces more weapons and ammunition than it spends in the war against Ukraine, DW reports.
"Most of what is being produced is no longer going to the frontline, but is being stored in warehouses," Pistorius said.
The minister believes that Russian leader Putin needs so many weapons to implement certain plans.
"One can be naive and say that he [Putin] is only doing this out of caution. As a sceptic, I would rather say in this case that he is doing this because he is planning something or has something in mind," Pistorius said.
