The head of an community organisation in the Kharkiv Region specialising in sports education for children, who had been systematically raping an 11-year-old pupil for a long time, has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
"With the support of the public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Kharkiv and Lviv regional prosecutor's offices, the court found the man guilty of a number of crimes against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability (Part 6 of Article 152 (four episodes), Part 2 of Article 156, Part 6 of Article 153, Part 3 of Article 15, Part 6 of Article 152, Part 1 of Article 301-1, Part 3 of Article 301-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.
Prosecutors proved that the offender systematically raped an 11-year-old boy during 2021-22. At first, the man gained the child's trust by building a friendly relationship. After that, he began to constantly rape the child and commit lewd acts against him.
In the spring of 2022, due to the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in the Kharkiv Region, the boy and his family moved to Lviv Region, but this did not stop the convict. He came to the village, found the boy and continued to rape the child in deserted places.
"During the commission of illegal actions against the child, the man was filming, which he stored on his personal laptop," the prosecutor's office added.
The convict was kept in custody until the sentencing.
He pleaded not guilty at the court hearing. The appeal period is currently underway.
The information about the accused will be entered into the Register of persons convicted of crimes against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability of a minor.
