On 6 May, a fire broke out at the Khimrezerv chemical plant in Kropyvnytskyy.

The incident was not caused by shelling, according to the head of the Kirovohrad Regional Military Administration, Andriy Raykovych.

"According to the preliminary definition, this is a man-made emergency. Emergency services are working at the site. I have instructed the Regional State Administration for Emergency Situations and Civil Protection to promptly engage specialists from the Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention to investigate the air quality," said Raykovych.

The fire was contained around 3 p.m.

Later, the head of the Region said that rescuers had found one dead person.

Experts have measured air samples for carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, methane, oil hydrocarbons, soot, dust, formaldehyde, and sulphur dioxide. According to the results of the research, the content of these substances is within the permissible levels.

According to Raykovych, the measurements were taken outside the plant. Air tests are ongoing.
