The New York Times claims that the administration of US President Joe Biden has approved the provision of a second Patriot air defence system to Ukraine.
The decision came after a series of discussions and meetings on how to meet our country's request to protect its skies without reducing the combat capability of US forces.
In the end, it was decided that the Patriot system, which is currently in Poland and provides protection for rotating U.S. troops there, will go to Ukraine. These soldiers will come home.
Officials in Washington are convinced that the system can be deployed in Ukraine in a matter of days.
The Biden administration hopes that this step will encourage other countries that have Patriot "to take the risk of reducing their defence, because Ukrainians need it more".
