The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has identified the killers of four Ukrainian prisoners. It is about the shooting of the military in May near Robotyno, Zaporizhzhya Region.
The Russians filmed the execution. Four (previously, the Prosecutor General's Office reported three) Ukrainian servicemen surrendered with their hands up and unarmed, and the Russians forced them to lie down and shot them at point blank range, the DIU said.
DIU specialists identified those involved in the war crime as occupants of the assault group of the 70th motorised rifle regiment (military unit 71718) of the 42nd motorised rifle division of the 58th Army of the Southern District. The military unit in question is permanently stationed in the city of Shali (Chechnya, Russia). At the time of the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war near Robotyn, the 70th motorised rifle regiment of the Russian Armed Forces was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Yuriy Abayev (Russian: Абаев Юрий Маирбекович), born on 10.12.1990:
- Captain Nagornyy Dmitriy Olegovich, 21.11.1995, commander of the 2nd battalion;
- First Lieutenant Abutalimov Temirlan Umarovich, 02.05.1997, commander of the 1st assault company
- Lieutenant Bekov Zaur Sergeyevich, 16.07.1997, commander of the 3rd assault company
- Senior Lieutenant Imagazaliyev Yusup Payzulayevich, 18.07.1999, commander of the 6th assault company.
This is evidenced by radio intercepts of a conversation between the occupiers and the 70th Regiment, during which one of the Russian assault company commanders ordered his subordinates to shoot Ukrainian soldiers.
This is not the first crime committed by the Russian army against prisoners of war.
