The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has imposed a pre-trial restraint on the former head of a department of the city council in Transcarpathian Region. This was reported by the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.

On 27 June 2024, the HACC investigating judge imposed a preventive measure on the former head of the municipal property and land relations department of the city council, one of the suspects in the case of selling 3 hectares of municipal land for nothing.

Having considered the motion of the NABU detectives, approved by the SAPO prosecutor, the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention for 2 months with an alternative of UAH 5 million bail.

If bail is granted, the suspect will be subject to the relevant procedural obligations.

  • The day before, the HACC imposed a measure of restraint on the mayor of Mukachevo, Andriy Baloha, in the form of detention. The suspect may be released on bail in the amount of UAH 30 million.
  • The mayor of Mukachevo, Andriy Baloha, and the head of the district council in Transcarpathian Region were caught selling land at low prices. According to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, the mayor "pushed through" a decision at the city council session to sell the Avangard stadium land plot in Mukachevo at a price that was almost nine times lower than the actual value to a private company whose actual controller is the head of the district council, a former MP.
