Flag Day celebrated in Kyiv: Highlights from President's speech

The celebrations were attended by military personnel.

On the morning of 23 August, the National Flag Day was celebrated in Kyiv, near the Motherland monument. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the military, and political officials took part in the events.

In his speech, the President addressed everyone who works for the state, defends it and feels it is their home. Zelenskyy noted that today, as for many years, we are united by the blue and yellow flag.

"Now in this war, we are winning back the right to justice, to our own, our freedom, our dignity, our security, our own state. And I hope that the criminals who came to destroy Ukraine and brought ruins to our home will definitely have ruins in theirs," he said.

The President added that the tricolours will not be left in peace in Ukraine.

"Glory to all those who are fighting and working for Ukraine. Eternal gratitude to all the heroes of different times who fought for Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine!" the president concluded his speech.
