Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal met with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
He announced the results of the talks and his proposals to the European side.
Among them:
- an agreement that a joint meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the European Commission Board will be held in Kyiv at the end of this year or early next year;
- Kyiv has already received €12 billion under the Ukraine Facility programme. By the end of the year, the Ukrainian side hopes to receive all the expected EUR 16 billion, and next year it expects support in the same amount;
- Ukraine also expects to launch the financial instrument in the new EU budget for 2028-2034. Shmyhal proposes to increase the financial offer for our country from €200 billion to €400 billion and introduce a separate budget programme;
- Ukraine expects to use the funds from the Assistance Fund under the EPF without restrictions and delays to compensate EU member states for the costs of purchasing weapons from Ukrainian manufacturers.
Shmyhal and von der Leyen also discussed the European Commission's plan to take 10 concrete steps of solidarity with Ukraine in the energy sector. These include the supply of backup power supplies, decentralised generation facilities and increased opportunities to import electricity from the EU.
