European arms manufacturer KNDS has signed a contract to supply 12 Caesar self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine.

This was announced by French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu on social media platform X.

He noted that the contract was signed yesterday, 3 October, on the sidelines of an industrial forum in Kyiv.

‘Yesterday, on the sidelines of an industrial forum organised in Kyiv, KNDS signed a contract for the supply of 12 CAESAR guns with funding from Ukraine. Increasing the production capacity of our defence industry makes it possible to support Ukraine,’ the French minister wrote.

The Caesar is a French self-propelled artillery unit equipped with a 155 mm cannon. It is designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries, pillboxes, and to provide passages in minefields and field obstacles.

In January this year, Lecornu announced that France would produce 78 Ceasar howitzers for Ukraine.

Recently, Belgium announced the purchase of three Caesar self-propelled artillery systems for Ukraine.
