Ukraine and South Korea have agreed to intensify contacts at all levels due to the participation of DPRK troops in the war. This was reported by the press service of the President of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Suk Yeol, thanking him for the financial and humanitarian assistance already provided and announced.
The parties discussed the involvement of the North Korean military in the Russian invasion of Ukraine, concluding that this war is internationalising and going beyond the borders of the two countries.
The President of Ukraine provided his counterpart with the latest information on the deployment of 3,000 North Korean troops to Russian training grounds in the immediate vicinity of the combat zone and the expected increase in their number to around 12,000.
The parties agreed to intensify the exchange of intelligence and expertise, intensify contacts at all levels, including the highest, in order to develop a strategy of action and a list of countermeasures in response to the escalation, and engage joint partners in cooperation.
As part of this agreement, Ukraine and the Republic of Korea will soon exchange delegations to coordinate actions.
Zelenskyy invited South Korea to join the G7 Vilnius Declaration on bilateral security agreements in support of Ukraine.
It should be noted that South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said that a South Korean delegation would visit Ukraine this week to share information about the DPRK's deployment of troops to Russia and discuss cooperation measures.
