Russia has only a few units of the experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile that struck the Dnipro on 21 November. At the same time, its partners have air defence systems capable of shooting down missiles of this type.

This was reported to LB.ua by sources in the Ukrainian Armed Forces command.

In particular, according to the source, the United States and Israel have systems capable of shooting down Oreshniks. It is also possible to upgrade Patriot systems.

The source also said that Ukraine has asked its partners to provide such systems.

  • On the morning of 21 November, the Russian army attacked Dnipro with missiles of various types. The Russians launched an intercontinental ballistic missile from Astrakhan Region, an X-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missile from a MiG31K fighter jet in Tambov Region, and seven X-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers.
  • Putin later claimed that Russia had attacked Dnipro with an Oreshnik medium-range ballistic missile.
