Using Shahed drones, the Russian army targeted a residential area in Sumy, killing at least two people and wounding 12 others, according to the Regional Military Administration (RMA).
The head of the RMA, Artem Kobzar, reported the first strike at 5:32 a.m., followed by a second strike at 5:43 a.m.
“Unfortunately, there is also a fatality at the site of the second explosion. The State Emergency Service, police, and ambulance crews are working at the scene. A headquarters will be set up to address the aftermath,” Kobzar said.
The strikes damaged a 12-storey apartment building, five private residential houses, a shop, and three cars, the National Police reported.
Search and rescue operations, emergency repairs, and the documentation of war crimes are currently underway. Reinforced police investigative teams and explosives experts are also working at the site.
