Russians lost 25,000 servicemen in killed and wounded in the Kursk Region.
This was reported to LB.ua by a source in the Ukrainian Armed Forces command.
According to him, in September, there were 40,000 Russian troops in Kursk Region, and now the Russian grouping numbers 59,000 - 1 division, 5 brigades, 15 regiments.
‘They have moved four of their best brigades there,’ the source told LB.ua.
According to him, Russia is using the ‘scorched earth’ tactic in Kursk Region - in order to drive Ukrainian troops from their territory, Russians are levelling their own settlements to the ground, killing their own citizens.
Ukrainians are holding the front there, destroying large numbers of the enemy - the Russian army lost about 25,000 soldiers in Kursk Region in killed and wounded. ‘Our losses are many times less,’ the source said.
According to him, Ukraine currently controls 800 square kilometres of the Kursk Region.
At the maximum, Ukraine controlled 1,376 square kilometres.
‘We will hold the Kursk Region for as long as it is necessary from a military point of view. Otherwise, this army - 60,000 - will go to Kharkiv or to the Pokrovsk and Kurakhiv directions. Let them destroy their settlements instead,’ our interlocutor stressed.
Events in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation
- On 6 August this year, Russia announced a border breakthrough in the Kursk Region. Initially, it claimed that the attempt was unsuccessful and that its FSB had contained the operation, but even its pro-war bloggers reported a loss of control. The head of the Centre for Countering Disinformation, Andriy Kovalenko, said that day that Russian claims of border control in the Kursk Region were false. This was the first and only comment by a Ukrainian official on the subject.
- On 7 August, the Russians reported that the fighting continued. Evacuations were announced from some settlements. No one denied the fact that the border had been breached, including Vladimir Putin, who urgently convened the government and, according to Russian media, the security council. Comments on the Kursk Region, albeit rather vague, began to be made by Mikhail Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the Presidential Office.
- According to Deep State, Russia lost several settlements on the first day of the operation. This month, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the Defence Forces are holding back a fairly large grouping of Russian troops - 50,000 occupier army personnel - who, thanks to the Kursk operation, cannot be sent to other areas of Russian attacks on our territory.
- The Russian Federation has also deployed troops from the DPRK to the area. A source in the Armed Forces command told LB.ua that the enemy planned an offensive on Zaporizhzhya in late October and early November, concentrated significant forces in this area, but was forced to abandon the plans.
