Six Ukrainian soldiers were captured, five of whom were executed by Russian forces near Novodarivka, Zaporizhzhya Region, the Prosecutor General’s Office has reported.

Preliminary findings indicate that on 24 November 2024, near the village of Novodarivka in Polohy district, where active combat continues, Russian troops executed five of the six Ukrainian defenders they had taken prisoner.

Law enforcement has identified the Russian army unit involved, and its servicemen are being investigated for their roles in this war crime. Investigators have also secured video evidence of the shooting.

The killing of prisoners of war constitutes a grave breach of the Geneva Conventions and is categorised as a serious international crime.

This is not an isolated incident. As of October, approximately 100 cases of Ukrainian POWs being murdered have been documented. Recently, five captured Ukrainian soldiers were executed by Russian forces near the village of Petrivka, Pokrovsk district.
