The Security Service and the National Police have detained two more groups of arsonists who tried to burn down a Ukrzaliznytsya locomotive and a number of power substations.
According to the SBU website, the perpetrators included five accomplices of Russian special services who had committed arsons in Kirovohrad and Vinnytsya Regions.
At the request of the occupiers, the defendants tried to damage the facilities of Ukrzaliznytsya and Ukrposhta. To commit the crimes, they used flammable mixtures, which were made according to the instructions of the Russians. The criminals did not have time to receive payment for their work.
In Kirovohrad Region, a former assistant driver of the local branch of Ukrzaliznytsya and his partner from Znamyanka were caught setting fire to a locomotive, power company substations and relay cabinets. The criminals also planned to derail a train and destroy the city's private post office.
In Vinnytsya Region, three local college students aged 15 and 16 were caught setting fire to a regional Ukrposhta office and a relay cabinet on an important railway line. After that, the Russian special service planned to involve the young men in explosions near government buildings in different regions of Ukraine.
The detainees were served with a notice of suspicion of sabotage committed by a group of people under martial law. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
