President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.
He announced this on Telegram.
The President heard reports on contracts for the production of weapons in Ukraine. He also reported on a significant amount of new and long-term orders for drones: FPV, reconnaissance drones, long-range drones, and missile drones.
‘I'd like to talk about our missile programme separately and carefully. Development, ordering, delivery,’ Zelenskyy said.
He also heard a report on the testing of new types of missiles, as well as tasks on contracts for the production of artillery.
‘We can thank our Ukrainian missile developers. We are accelerating production,’ the president said.
Zelenskyy also held a meeting with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Energy, and the Air Force Commander. They reported to the president on the protection of energy facilities and restoration work, and identified additional priorities in negotiations with partners on air defence for Ukraine.
Weapons production in Ukraine
- In the first quarter of 2024, Ukrainian manufacturers produced an average of 24.8% more weapons and ammunition than in the same period last year.
- In early November, a meeting was held between 50 Ukrainian manufacturers of ammunition, explosives and means of initiation and the Security and Defence Forces. They discussed codification, testing standards, the development of procurement needs and procedures by state customers, and feedback from end users.
- Earlier, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov said that Ukraine has already invested $4 billion in the development of the industry and plans to increase funding next year. The priority is to develop drones and long-range weapons, including ballistic missiles.
- And Zelenskyy says that the total number of drones that Ukraine can produce annually is 4 million, and more than 1.5 million have already been contracted.
- In addition, 15-20 units of the Bohdan self-propelled artillery system are manufactured monthly, and a new repair base for our equipment has been created - in particular, in June this year, the first Marder infantry fighting vehicle repaired in Ukraine rolled off the assembly line.
