On 25 December, Russian forces launched another massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, targeting DTEK’s thermal power plants.
The company announced via Telegram that the attack caused severe damage to its equipment. Once the shelling ended, repair crews began working promptly to restore the damaged facilities.
This marks the 13th large-scale attack on Ukraine’s energy sector and the 10th on DTEK’s facilities. Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, DTEK’s thermal power plants have been shelled more than 200 times.
Energy Minister German Halushchenko confirmed the attacks, noting that the transmission system operator is implementing consumption restrictions to minimise the strain on the power grid. The most recent attack on DTEK’s equipment prior to this occurred on 13 December.
