Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) and Defence Forces carried out a series of coordinated attacks on Russian military and industrial facilities across several regions. The strikes, conducted using missiles and drones, targeted sites critical to Russia’s military operations, according to Defence Forces sources.
The attacks took place in Tula, Saratov, and Bryansk Regions:
- Aleksinskiy Chemical Plant (Tula Region): SBU drones caused a significant fire at the facility.
- Engels Airfield Ammunition Depots (Saratov Region): Depots housing FAB, KAB, and cruise missiles were hit by drones. Explosions and fires continue to burn.
- Saratov Oil Refinery: A large-scale fire was recorded following the strikes.
- Bryansk Chemical Plant: Direct missile hits led to extensive fires and secondary detonations.
An SBU source stated the strikes aim to degrade Russia’s capacity to sustain its war effort in Ukraine: “Each damaged ammunition depot, refinery, oil depot, or chemical plant is a painful blow to Russia’s ability to wage war in Ukraine.”
Reports on Russian social media indicated widespread fires and explosions across the targeted areas, with claims of a “massive drone attack.” Engels airfield, a recurring target for Ukrainian strikes, was hit again, underscoring Ukraine’s focus on disrupting Russia’s military logistics and industrial base.
This latest operation follows a series of recent strikes on similar facilities, signalling a sustained effort by Ukraine to weaken Russia’s military-industrial complex.
