Today, on 15 January, during a massive strike, Russia fired more than 40 missiles, including ballistic missiles, at Ukraine. Air defence systems shot down at least 30 of them.
This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Another Russian massive strike. It is the middle of winter, and the target for the Russians remains the same: our energy sector. The targets include gas infrastructure and energy facilities that ensure normal life for people. More than 40 missiles were involved in this strike, including ballistic missiles. At least 30 were destroyed," he said in Telegram.
He also said that there were more than 70 Russian attack drones overnight.
"Thanks to our air defence system and all the units involved, we are maintaining the operation of our energy system. However, we constantly need to strengthen the existing capabilities of the Ukrainian air shield," the President said and reminded that partners at the NATO summit in Washington and in the Ramstein format had made promises that have not yet been fully implemented.
In particular, we are talking about licences for the production of air defence systems and anti-missiles, which can become one of the effective guarantees of security for Ukraine, and this is also realistic and must be fulfilled.
"We are grateful to everyone who helps our country. But this is much more than the needs of our country. Right now, the defence of Ukraine is proving whether Europe and the democratic world as a whole can stop wars reliably and for a long time," Zelenskyy said.
- During the morning air raid in Stryy and Drohobych districts of Lviv Region, Russians fired cruise missiles at critical infrastructure facilities.
- The Russian attack in Ivano-Frankivsk Region also targeted critical infrastructure facilities.
