On the evening of 31 January, Russia attacked Odesa with missiles.
This was reported by the head of the RMA, Oleh Kiper.
According to him, Russian terrorists attacked the historic centre of Odesa.
‘The threat remains,’ Kiper added.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force warned of several high-speed airborne targets moving in the Black Sea towards Odesa.
Local media outlet Dumska reported that the building of the Bristol Hotel, built in 1898-1899 and designed by architect Alexander Bernardazzi, was heavily damaged by the falling missile debris.
Update. Kiper said that a hotel employee was injured in the enemy strike.
‘The woman was hospitalised. She is being provided with all necessary medical care,’ the head of the region added.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also responded to the shelling.
‘Now in the south of our country - in Odesa - work is underway after Russian missile strikes. First of all, ballistics. The strikes are just on the city, on ordinary civilian buildings. Again and again: Air defence is the first priority, we are working with all partners to provide more protection to our state,’ the head of state said in a video address.
Subsequently, Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov reported two victims.‘They are currently being transported to city hospitals, where they will be provided with all the necessary medical care,’ said the head of Odesa.
He added that there is a lot of damage and destruction in the UNESCO protected area, and a building that is under enhanced protection has been damaged.
