As of 3 March 2025, the Office of the Prosecutor General has recorded 344 cases of conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), LB.ua reported.

Most cases involved women - 220 - but there are 124 men among the victims, as well as underage girls and boys - 17.

Kherson Region has the highest number of episodes of sexual violence - 110. There are also 81 in Donetsk, 60 in Kyiv, 40 in Kharkiv, 23 in Zaporizhzhya, 10 in Mykolaiv, 8 in Chernihiv and Luhansk, 3 in Sumy, and 1 in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

It is worth noting that Russian soldiers massively use sexualised violence against civilians in places of detention in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Despite the huge number of victims of sexualised violence, it is not singled out as a separate category of crime in either the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC) or the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Read more about how this affects the investigation of such crimes and why it is important to talk about sexual violence as a separate type of crime in the article by journalist Kseniya Novytska Sexualised violence in war as a component of genocide.
