The Law Enforcement Committee has approved a draft law on the right of the National Guard to use tear gas, weapons and drones during mass protests. At a meeting of the committee on 5 March (the date has been corrected), the draft law was recommended for consideration in the second reading, its members told LB. The document may be voted on in the parliament next week.

According to Oleksiy Honcharenko (Eurosolidarity), the new version of draft law No. 10311 includes the use of firearms, rubber and plastic batons, tear gas and shockers. It also refers to the use of drones.

‘These are committee amendments (on the use of special means - Ed.). I did not sign them personally. Because among the correct and understandable ones, they have inserted unacceptable ones for me,’ Oleksandr Danutsa, a member of the committee and MP from the Servant of the People party, told LB.UA

At the same time, his colleague on the committee, Andriy Osadchuk (Holos faction), added that ‘the interpretation of the FB publications is too arbitrary and broad. But even before the meeting, I warned the Servants not to even start this topic and, of course, I did not vote for it.’
