Ukraine and Russia will exchange prisoners of war on 7-8 June. Russia is ready to exchange 500 military personnel, but has not yet handed over the lists to Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this at a press conference on 4 June, Suspilne reports. After the exchange of prisoners, bodies may be exchanged.

Before that, an identification procedure will be carried out.

‘It is very important that we receive the bodies of Ukrainians, not Russians, whom they want to get rid of,’ he said.

  • The new exchange was agreed upon at talks between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul on 2 June. It is an exchange of soldiers aged 18-25 and those with serious illnesses. The Ukrainian delegation reported that the exchange of these categories was to be in the format of all for all.
  • The parties will also exchange the bodies of the dead in the format of 6000 for 6000.
