The Khanenko Museum has received the top international distinction — The Best in Heritage: Project of Influence 2025 — presented during the 24th annual conference in Barcelona.
This year, the event brought together more than 150 experts and 40 laureates of prestigious international awards in the field of cultural heritage.
The award was accepted on behalf of the entire team by the museum’s director, Yuliya Vahanova. Each year, only two projects worldwide are selected for recognition within the Project of Influence and IMAGINES programmes.
The Khanenko Museum was nominated as the winner of the CIMAM Outstanding Museum Practice Award 2024. The jury emphasised that this project, born out of “the pure resilience of those who faced the reality of war,” transformed the emptiness of museum halls into a space for community, creativity and solidarity — becoming a symbol of resilience and inspiration for the future.
The museum’s team noted that this award represents recognition of the power of culture and the growing trust in Ukrainian institutions across the world, which, even in times of war, remain centres of life, meaning and hope.
