Interceptor drone success surges as Ukraine doubles down on counter-UAV operations in March

Ukrainian-made UAVs have proven to be the most effective.

In March, the number of combat sorties flown by interceptor drones and the number of Russian UAVs destroyed rose by almost 55% compared to February. Interceptors destroyed more than 2,300 Russian aerial targets during the month.

This was reported on Facebook by Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyy, who held a working meeting on countering Russian drones.

Syrskyy said that Russia is changing its drone attack tactics. In response, Ukraine is adapting its approach.

Ukrainian-made drones are proving to be the most effective. Ukraine is ready to share its experience with other countries, but needs to further increase the number of interceptor UAVs, particularly those equipped with automatic guidance systems.

“The enemy is not ceasing its attacks — on the contrary, it is increasing production, modernising its drones and refining their deployment. Since the beginning of March, our helicopters have destroyed 379 enemy strike drones. Anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups and separate anti-aircraft machine-gun battalions are also operating effectively against targets,” said the Commander-in-Chief.

Particular attention was paid to the implementation of artificial intelligence and increasing the level of automation in air defence systems.
