“Ukrainians Beyond Borders: Nine Life Journeys Through the History of Eastern Europe” is a new book by researcher and Japanologist Olha Khomenko, according to the Oxford University Ukrainian Society.
The book tells the stories of Ukrainians travelling from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Odesa and Poltava, as well as one Austrian who chose Ukraine as his home. Through their experiences, the author explores the complex history of Ukraine, its culture and its borders.
Khomenko is a visiting scholar at the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies and an author specialising in the transnational history of Ukraine and the history of Ukrainian-Japanese relations.
She previously published “Ivan Svit’s Far Eastern Odyssey”, посвящённую journalist, historian and public figure Ivan Svit (1897–1989) and the Ukrainian diaspora in the Far East and Asia.
