The BRaK Festival is one of Bratislava’s leading literary events and has been held annually for the past 13 years. This year, for the second time, local audiences will have the opportunity to meet Ukrainian authors, according to the Ukrainian Institute.

On 28 May, an event entitled Courage, Solidarity and Everyday Life in Tamara Duda (Gorikha Zernya)’s Novel ‘Daughter’” will take place. The novel, for which the author received the Taras Shevchenko National Prize, has been published in Slovak translation by Veronika Goldinjaková through Dajama publishing house. The event will also feature Slovak writer Michal Hvořecký, an active supporter of Ukraine.

A public discussion of the book Call Sign for Joa. Chronicles of the Invasion, featuring its author Oleksandr Mykhed, is scheduled for 30 May. The book has been published in Slovak translation by Absynt, translated by Veronika Goldinjaková. The event will also feature Slovak radio presenter Andrea Makishova Volarova.
