After its premiere at FIPADOC and within the “Season of Ukraine in France” (Le Voyage en Ukraine) programme, the documentary about two female servicemembers with the call signs “Cuba” and “Alaska” is entering wide theatrical release in France.

Screenings will begin on 27 May and continue throughout June. Several screenings will include meetings with Yuliya (Cuba) Sydorova and Oleksandra (Alaska) Lysytska, who will answer questions from audiences. The programme of special screenings is available on the distributor’s website.

“Cuba & Alaska” is a film by director Yehor Troyanovskyy, telling the story of two paramedic friends.

The film is an international co-production between Ukraine, Belgium and France. Producers include Olha Bregman, Christian Popp and Hanne Phlypo. Its world premiere took place at one of Europe’s largest documentary festivals, Sheffield DocFest.

The Ukrainian theatrical release began in August 2025.
